Reproductive Medicine (IVF & Fertility)

The Department of Reproductive Medicine at St. Stephen’s Hospital, now an established standalone unit with nearly two decades of experience, provides specialist care for couples facing difficulty conceiving. From initial assessment to advanced treatments including IVF, our team offers evidence-based fertility care in a setting that is warm, private, and genuinely supportive.

The journey to parenthood is not the same for everyone, and for some it is long and difficult. We understand that. Our promise is honesty – a realistic picture of your situation and your options, alongside compassion. We treat every couple as people we are rooting for, not as a case file.

Conditions we treat

  • Difficulty conceiving (infertility) - female and male factors
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) affecting fertility
  • Ovulation disorders
  • Blocked or damaged fallopian tubes
  • Endometriosis-related infertility
  • Male factor infertility (low count or motility)
  • Recurrent pregnancy loss
  • Unexplained infertility
  • Fertility preservation concerns

Services and procedures

Assessment

  • Fertility evaluation: Thorough assessment of both partners to understand the cause.
  • Hormonal and ovarian reserve testing: To guide realistic, individualised planning.
  • Male fertility assessment: Because around half of fertility issues involve male factors.

Treatment

  • Ovulation induction: Medication to support egg release in selected couples.
  • Intrauterine insemination (IUI): A simpler first-line treatment for appropriate cases.
  • In-vitro fertilisation (IVF): Advanced treatment, explained step by step, with realistic expectations.
  • Embryo transfer and monitoring: Careful support through the most sensitive stages.

Support

  • Counselling and emotional support: The emotional side of fertility matters as much as the medical.
  • Honest expectation-setting: Clear information on success rates and what they mean for you.

When to see us

  • You have been trying to conceive for over a year (or six months if you are over 35).
  • You have irregular periods or known PCOS.
  • You have a history of pelvic infection, endometriosis, or tubal problems.
  • You or your partner have a known fertility concern.
  • You have had recurrent pregnancy loss.
