The Department of Dental Surgery at St. Stephen’s Hospital provides routine and specialist dental care for patients of all ages. From a regular check-up to root canal treatment, extractions, wisdom tooth surgery, and minor oral surgical procedures — our dental surgery team focuses on what is genuinely needed for your oral health.
We see a lot of patients who have been told they need expensive, complicated treatment elsewhere. Our approach is to explain what the problem actually is, what the realistic options are, and to recommend the simplest treatment that solves it.
For most healthy adults, once every 6 to 12 months for a check-up and cleaning. People with gum disease, diabetes, or other risk factors may need to come more often. We will tell you the right interval for you.
Modern root canal treatment is done under local anaesthesia and is usually no more painful than a filling. In fact, most patients come in with pain — and leave without it. The reputation root canals have is largely out of date.
Yes, milk teeth do fall out — but they need to last until they do. Decay in milk teeth can cause pain, infection, and even affect the development of permanent teeth underneath. We treat them with the same care as adult teeth.
Our department offers consultation and assessment for implants. Where appropriate, we coordinate the surgical placement with our partner specialists. We will give you a clear, honest recommendation on whether implants are the right option for you.
