Neurology

The Department of Neurology at St. Stephen’s Hospital diagnoses and treats disorders of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles. Our team manages conditions ranging from common headaches and dizziness to stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, and complex nerve and muscle disorders, backed by modern imaging and a 24-hour emergency service.

In neurology, time and accuracy matter enormously –  never more so than in stroke, where every minute counts. Our priority is a precise diagnosis, prompt treatment where it is time-critical, and a clear, honest explanation of what a condition means for daily life. Where surgery is needed, we work directly with our Neurosurgery team on site.

Conditions we treat

  • Stroke and transient ischaemic attack (TIA)
  • Epilepsy and seizures
  • Migraine and other headache disorders
  • Parkinson's disease and movement disorders
  • Dementia and memory disorders, including Alzheimer's
  • Multiple sclerosis and other demyelinating diseases
  • Peripheral neuropathy and nerve damage
  • Muscle disorders (myopathies)
  • Dizziness, vertigo, and balance problems
  • Facial palsy and other cranial nerve disorders
