Critical Care

The Department of Critical Care Medicine at St. Stephen’s Hospital is a tertiary-level advanced critical care centre offering comprehensive, compassionate care for acutely and critically ill patients, emergencies, and the seriously injured. Our intensive care units are staffed by a dedicated team and equipped with modern monitoring and life-support technology, available around the clock.

Critical illness is one of the most frightening experiences a family can face. Our role is twofold: to provide the highest standard of medical care to the patient, and to support and inform the family through a difficult time. We believe families deserve honesty, regular updates, and to be treated as part of the care.

Conditions we treat

  • Severe infections and sepsis
  • Respiratory failure and breathing emergencies
  • Cardiac emergencies and shock
  • Multi-organ failure
  • Post-operative critical care for major surgery
  • Severe trauma and injury
  • Acute neurological emergencies
  • Poisoning and metabolic emergencies
  • Critically ill patients needing close monitoring
