The Department of Rehabilitation & Physiotherapy supports patients recovering from surgery, injury, stroke, and long-term pain. Recovery is rarely linear — and the right rehabilitation plan can make the difference between getting back to full function and living with a permanent limitation.
Our team includes qualified physiotherapists working closely with surgeons, orthopaedicians, neurologists, and pain specialists across the hospital. Every patient gets an individual plan, regular review, and clear goals — not a generic exercise routine.
It depends on the condition. Some problems resolve in 4 to 6 sessions. Others — post-stroke or post-major surgery — need much longer. We agree clear goals at the start and review them regularly. We do not believe in open-ended therapy that goes on forever without measurable progress.
Good physiotherapy may sometimes be uncomfortable, but it should not be sharply or worryingly painful. If something hurts in a wrong way, tell your therapist — we adjust the plan.
Pain that lasts beyond the early healing phase often becomes worse with rest and better with the right kind of movement. Structured exercise — done at the right intensity, with the right technique — is one of the most effective long-term treatments we have for chronic musculoskeletal pain.
Yes, in most cases. You can book directly. For complex problems, post-operative care, or anything where the cause of pain is unclear, a medical assessment first is sensible — and we will refer you if that is needed.
