awarded the Kaiser-i-Hind medal by King Edward VIII.
Lucy Oommen
the first Indian Director of the hospital and a renowned obstetrician, awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India.
Dr. Charlotte Houlton
Medical Superintendent 1927–1933; awarded the Kaiser-i-Hind by King George VI, the Coronation Medal of 1937, and appointed a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) in 1939.

Recognition of St. Stephen's Hospital
Mission Convergence Award
The Government of NCT of Delhi recognised the hospital’s contribution to its Mission Convergence programme which included a survey of Delhi’s homeless population. The award was presented by the President of India, Smt. Pratibha Patil.

NBE's Excellence in Post Graduate Teaching and Assessment Award
The hospital received the National Board of Examinations’ prestigious award for the high quality of postgraduate (DNB) training imparted over more than two decades selected from among the 700 public and private institutions running DNB courses.
CII – Godrej GBC “National Award for Excellence in Energy Management 2017”
Awarded by the Confederation of Indian Industry for energy-efficiency measures implemented at the hospital (with Smart Joules).
German Energy Efficiency Award
The German Energy Agency (dena) awarded its Energy Efficiency Award 2018, in the “Energy Services and Management” category, to Smart Joules and St. Stephen’s Hospital, for comprehensive energy-efficiency measures achieving considerable savings.

ISO Certification
St. Stephen’s Hospital was the first hospital in the country to be certified for ISO 9001:2015 (quality management), ISO 14001:2015 (environmental management) and OHSAS 45001:2018 (occupational health and safety) – a distinction that reflects a long-standing commitment to systematic quality and safety.
NABH Accreditation
The hospital is accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH), confirming its compliance with the required national standards for quality and patient safety.
NABL Accreditation
The hospital’s laboratory services are accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) — an assurance of accurate, reliable test results.
