Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery

The Department of Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery (CTVS) at St. Stephen’s Hospital treats complex diseases of the heart, lungs, and blood vessels surgically in both adults and children. From coronary bypass and valve surgery to vascular procedures and thoracic operations, our team handles cases that require precision, experience, and close teamwork with Cardiology, Anaesthesia, and Critical Care.

Heart and vascular surgery is rarely an isolated event – it is part of a longer journey of assessment, surgery, intensive recovery, and rehabilitation. We work as one team across that whole path, and we make sure patients and families understand each stage before it happens.

Conditions we treat

  • Coronary artery disease requiring bypass surgery
  • Heart valve disease — narrowing or leakage
  • Congenital heart defects in children and adults
  • Aneurysms of the aorta and other vessels
  • Peripheral arterial disease (poor circulation in the legs)
  • Varicose veins and venous disease
  • Lung and chest (thoracic) conditions requiring surgery
  • Diabetic foot and limb-threatening vascular disease
  • Vascular access for dialysis (AV fistula)

Services and procedures
