The Department of ENT at St. Stephen’s Hospital provides advanced elective and emergency care for a wide range of conditions affecting the ear, nose, sinuses, oral cavity and throat region. Our team manages everything from routine ear and sinus infections to hearing loss, voice disorders, and complex head and neck surgery.
ENT problems are among the most common reasons people see a doctor and many can be resolved simply once correctly diagnosed. Our approach combines careful examination, the right use of modern endoscopic and audiology tools, and surgery only where it is genuinely the best option. Surgical Treatment for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea
Since 2013, the department has a vibrant sleep surgery programme, for the management of obstructive sleep apnoea. State of art sleep laboratory is available in the hospital. The department provides facilities for sleep endoscopy(DISE) , multilevel sleep surgery and minimally invasive procedures . Under a specially trained surgical team, latest surgical procedures like tongue base reduction and pharyngoplasties including barbed suturing techniques are carried out on a regular basis with excellent results. With the surgical treatment we have managed to relieve the airway obstruction without the help of machines. In many patients where the patient is not able to tolerate CPAP therapy or are not relieved by it , multilevel sleep surgery offers good results. The common multilevel surgeries include, Barbed palato-pharyngoplasty, Expansion sphincter pharyngoplasty, Endoscopic coblation assisted midline glossectomy, Endoscopic epiglottoplasty, Thyrohyoidopexy.
