Nephrology

The Department of Nephrology at St. Stephen’s Hospital is dedicated to the early diagnosis and management of diseases that affect the kidneys and to slowing or preventing their progression. Our team cares for patients across the full spectrum, from a first abnormal urine or creatinine result to advanced kidney disease requiring dialysis.

Kidney disease is often silent until it is advanced. That makes early detection vital  particularly for people with diabetes or high blood pressure, the two leading causes of kidney failure in India. Our focus is on protecting kidney function for as long as possible, and on guiding patients honestly through their options if disease does progress.

Conditions we treat

  • Chronic kidney disease (CKD)
  • Acute kidney injury
  • Diabetic kidney disease
  • Hypertension-related kidney disease
  • Glomerulonephritis and other kidney inflammations
  • Kidney stones — medical management and prevention
  • Recurrent and complicated urinary tract infections
  • Electrolyte and fluid balance disorders
  • Polycystic kidney disease and inherited conditions
  • End-stage kidney disease requiring dialysis
